چکیده

ntrapment of the radial nerve, specifically the deep branch of the radial nerve (DBRN) in the arcade of Frohse, was first described in 1963.1 Prolonged entrapment may lead to a constellation of symptoms described in posterior interosseous nerve (PIN) paralysis.2 Reported attempts at diagnosis using imaging have mostly involved magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), with a limited number of studies characterizing the utility of sonography. Confirmation of entrapment via MRI, sonography, and gross specimens obtained intraoperatively during surgical decompression is presented.

Sonographic Diagnosis Of Posterior Interosseous Nerve Entrapment Syndrome

Posterior interosseous nerve entrapment is a potential cause of upper extremity muscle weakness and pain. The diagnosis may be difficult to make clinically, and electrodiagnostic tests may not identify the exact site of nerve compression. We report a case of posterior interosseous nerve entrapment in which electrodiagnostic studies suggested radial neuropathy at the level of the spiral groove, ...

Posterior interosseous nerve of the elbow: normal appearances simulating entrapment.

OBJECTIVE In our clinical practice, we have noted a caliber change of the posterior interosseous nerve (PIN) at the elbow as seen in the long axis on sonography simulating nerve entrapment. The objective of this study was to characterize the PIN using sonography in asymptomatic individuals. METHODS Our study retrospectively characterized the PIN in 50 elbows of 47 asymptomatic patients with s...

بررسی نتایج عمل جراحی آزادسازی شاخه عمقی عصب رادیال از سال 1371 تا 1379 در بیمارستان امام خمینی و ساسان تهران

Between 1371 to 1379, of 10 patients with radial tunnel syndrome, 9 patients were treated by decompression of the posterior interosseous nerve. 8 patients were followed up more than 10 months. One patient improved without surgery. Half of the patients suffered from pain and all of them had variable degrees of paralysis in muscles innervated by deep branch of the radial nerve. The syndrome was d...

Posterior Interosseous Nerve Syndrome Resulting from Parosteal Lipoma of the Proximal Radius: An Elusive Diagnosis Yet Excellent Outcome

A 53-year old man presented with seven months history of progressive weakness of extension of the digits and the thumb of the left hand. The wrist extension was normal and sensations were also intact. The patient had also been noticing a progressively enlarging lump on the lower anterolateral aspect of the left antecubital fossa for the last three months. Physical examination andelectro diagnos...

The arcade of Frohse and its relationship to posterior interosseous nerve paralysis.

A cause for spontaneous paralysis of the posterior interosseous nerve has been sought for many years. In recent times an increasing number of reports on this subject has appeared. Sharrard’s (1966) cases were of particular interest because the approach to the problem was direct. If the paralysis did not subside within six weeks, exploration was carried out promptly. He described a fibrous band ...
